egamon
After years of successful backups, all of a sudden the comparing process is taking as long as 15 hours. Can the comparing process be turned off? Should it be turned off? Does anyone know the reason for this problem and can it be fixed? I would appreciate any input. natew
Hi You should never turn off comparing. There are a couple of things that could be causing this: 1- system instability. Try a clean install of the OS and see if the problems continue. 2- Corrupt Retropsect catalog. Try backing up to a new backup set. 3- Corrupt Retrospect preferences. Try a clean set of preference files for Retrospect. There is no particular order to these steps. I would try them in an order that is best for your environment.
