iMac Flat Screen is Eating CDR's

Recommended Posts

Hi All,

I have a client that is using Retrospect Express 5.0.238 on a Flat Screen iMac (700Mhz) with the CDRW/ DVD internal drive (GCC-4120B). I've updated the Authoring Support Extension to 1.1.9 on OS 9.2.2 so I believe all is as updated as possible.

The daily backup script inconsistantly gives an error: "Device trouble: “10-Daily Backup 4PM”, error 105 (unexpected end of data)."

Sometimes it will work for a day or 2, other times, it'll write a few megs and require a fresh CD. Any ideas? Is there a hardware issue with the Flat Screen iMac? I plan to test this system using an external CDRW for a few days to see if the problem disappears, but otherwise, I need a solution.

They purchased this software on my good recommendation... and it doesn't look so good...

Thanks

Joe

Please make sure all extensions meet the minimum requirements:

-Retrospect SDAP Support extension version 1.2

-The Authoring Support Update Extensions:

A) Apple CD/DVD Driver version 1.4.7

B) SDAP Authoring Support version 1.0.1

C) Apple Packet Media Access version 1.0.1

Are you using CD-R or CD-RW? Retrospect does not support CD-RW media with this drive.

What brand of media are you using? Make sure you try a different brand such as Sony, TDK or Verbatim
