Just got my new DVDR, Lost licence code and DVDR is not recognised.

Recommended Posts

I have plugged in my new Sony DRX500ULX. I plugged in the Firewire cable to my B&W G3. The apple system profiler shows one line of letters and numbers on the firewire. So it is recognised. The info isn't the normal descriptive model number etc, just some weird numbers and letters.

I put a DVDR disc into the unit and it just ejects it all the time.

What software can I use to operate the DVDR? I tryed Adaptec toast but it didn't recognise the DVDR when I scanned. I want to see my DVDR do something and be recognised.

I tryed to load up retrospect and was prompted for my name, organisation and licence code. I bought my copy of retrospect 4.3 for mac from the dantz site and downloaded it. I don't know about any licence code.

There is very little info with the DVDR drive. I'm not even sure of the different things I can do with it. I know I want to back up/archive my hard drives. I tryed putting an audio cd into the DVDR and it just ejects. I would assume that you could play audio cds on this DVDR. It would send the digital info into the computer via firewire and then come out the macs sound.

Before I have to pay someone for help to get my DVDR to do anything can yall help. And my licence code, what should I do there. I'm waiting on dantz email support to reply. I'm on OS9.1.

Frustrating technology.

PS, I never check these forum things so if you can help email: romanp@xtra.co.nz

Email lists are much better/conveniant.
