alysson
My G4 died and I lost all my info. I got a Titanium to replace it. Now I am trying to retrieve my info. I used Retrospect 4.3 with OS 9.1 and backed up onto Zip disks. I now use Jaguar exclusively. I was able to install Retrospect in my Titanium, but cannot open it. Classic opens (just like it did when I installed it), but says the extension is not compatible. I have never had to restart in 9.2 in order to use an application. Do I need to do that now? Do I need to upgrade retrospect? I am very short on $, so I am borrowing a Zip drive from work to be able to restore the info. Any suggestions? Guest
Retrospect versions earlier than 5.0 are not compatible with OS X, even from within the classic environment. If your powerbook is capable of booting into OS 9.x, you should be able to install Retrospect 4.3 and use it to restore your backup while booted into 9. If not, and even if it can, you can upgrade to Retrospect Express 5.0 for about $20, which will run natively in OS X. RE 5.0 should be able to restore backups created with RE 4.3. alysson
Thanks, Lorraine. I will look into the upgrade and try installing it in 9.2.
