macfoley2002de
Hello everybody, Who has experiences with "Recreating a catalog". I use DLT-Tapes, wich all store 20 GB. One of my six tapes I have has a little less data on it than the others. This tape is now since 36 hours in the DLT-Drive to rebuild the lost catalog. My manual tells me that "recreating may take a long time", but I`ve never thougt that it takes so long... Is there anybody hwo tried to recreate the catalogfile before. Does anybody know if it is possible to store the catalogfile on harddisc and on tape (so you can restore your Data without taking the catalog from one Computer to the other via CD or something else..) I would be glad to hear something and tell you how long it took my computer to recreate the catalog (imagin 6 Tapes with 20GB each - and one needs more than 40 hours....) Mayoff
Check the operations log for errors. The following Knowlegebase record might be helpful. It usually will take about 2 to 3 hours per tape to rebuild the average tape drive media. Make sure that the file names are changing on screen. If it says "resync slow" stop the rebuild and save the partial session. Catalog Rebuild, End of Data Makers and 206 errors
