msw1084
I have been using Express 4.3 for two years with no problems on my 300 MHz G3 Mac, writing to a Yamaha CRW8424SXZ CD writer. All of a sudden I get the following response: The three CDs seem to be written normally. When I am asked to mount CD 1 to start verification, there is a delay for a search for the CD. Then I get the message "Execution Incomplete", and the log shows "error 204 - device busy". Repeating the entire process gives the same result. I tried to restore files from this set, and got the same error message. When I backed up a single folder, which required only one CD, the entire process ran normally. After writing was complete, the verification process began immediately. I was able to restore information from this CD. I will appreciate any help I can get. msw1084
I found the answer to my own problem. It may be useful for others. When I switched from TDK CD-R disks to Maxell CD_R disks for the Retrospect backup, the inability to start the verification step disappeared, and the entire procedure went to completion. I had never used TDK before this attempt. They seem OK for writing with Toast, but not for backing up with Retrospect. It's not a matter of CD-RW vs CD-R, but of one brand of CDS-R vs another! AmyJ
Thanks for the update - we can't say it enough... CD burners are very picky in regards to media. It's always a good idea to try another brand.
