onostuff
Hi Just installed Ver. 5 on a mac using OS 9.1. I spent 4.5 hours doing a backup of 2 projects to an external firewire drive, and both Retrospect files are larger the the original files. (One is 33 gigs and one is 6 gigs) Both of these projects had lots of files that should have been compressiable. Searching through the forum, I know this issue has come up numerous times, with no resonable explanation that I could find. I noted a discussion between Eastwold and Melissa from 7/02 addressing the fact that Eastwold could get compression on his client drives but not the local drive. Unfortunitly, no answer was offered. Does anyone know why this is happening? Feel like I've wasted the day and a lot of bother with Retrospect, when I could have just copied the projects over to the external drive instead.
