walter3485
I have tried for so long to figure out how to do this but I can't seem to get it, I have this computer and I'm backing it up, I created the backup script to connect across the network via appletalk and create the backup set file there. Unfortunately the drive always has to be mounted. I have worked with retrospect before so I thought this won't be a problem I can use applescript. I made an applescript to mount the directory I wanted and now I can't figure out how to get retrospect to launch the applescript before running the backup. Does anybody know a way? I just need retrospect to launch this file before starting the backup sequence. Thanks for future help, Walter
AmyJ
Name the AppleScript "Retrospect Event Handler" and place it in the Retrospect preferences folder. This should allow the program to call the script.
walter3485
Perhaps you're confused between express and a normal version, I have retrospect express for macintosh and there is no event handler file in the preferences folder. Will it work if I make an applescript and put it there? Can somebody out there e-mail me the template event handler, bj454@scn.org so that I can use that to get started? AmyJ
Name the AppleScript _that you created_ "Retrospect Event Handler" and place it in the Retrospect preferences folder. This should allow the program to call the script.
walter3485
I did that exactly and under the handlers I put simple commands like beep to test it out. It did not work. Could somebody e-mail me an example script so that I can make sure I defined the handlers correctly? I'm sorry to be a pain but I've tried everything and just can't seem to get this to work.
