Tom_MUC
Hello, i have been surfing the WWW for quite a time now, but didn`t find any hints on what i am looking for. So maybe someone in here can help me with my problem :-) - I have 6 Macintosh G4 Servers (OS 9.2.2) running in complete. - 1 of the 6 is only used as a "Backup-Server" (also OS 9.2.2) - I have a Tandberg DLT8000 (SCSI-UW 40/80DLT) connected to the Backup-Server. - the 5 File-Servers have each RAID1-Servervolumes with the size of 17.5 GB each. - if i count the *real* data on the 5 File-Servers which need to be backuped i see about 52GB of data atm. - I have Retrospect v4.3 running as backup-Software on the Backup-Server. My problem is: - Retrospect is running ok, the script is working (it seems at least) - only the backup stops and asks for another DLT-Tape when there`s about 9 GB left to backup. Since i have a DLT8000 (40 normal / 80 compressed) i wonder why it stops and keeps asking for another tape.... I configured on 1st try a "software-compression" which ended in asking for 2nd tape Then i configured "hardware-compression" on the Tandberg-DLT and it ended up asking for a 2nd tape at nearly the same amount of left data (around 9 GB). Does anyone have an idea about why that happens? Sure, i could try buying a 100/200-DLT, but this is quite expensive.... I just don`t really get why Retrospect òr the DLT isn`t able to backup around 52 GB of yet uncompressed data. 40/80 means to me it should do it... It would be very nice if someone could give me a hint on my problem showed above. Thank you very much! Greetings Tom
