Gregg
I need some help here. I was installing Retrospect Express 5.0 as an upgrade, and I entered the code that came with it. The message came up that said 'No, wrong code you dummy," or something like that. So, I figured I'd try again and enter my original user code, only it won't let me. The "OK" button stays gray. What do I do now? I had been using version 4.1A on OS 8.1 but upgraded the OS to 9.2.2 recently. When RE wouldn't perform all of its old tricks, I decided to upgrade. I have my original registration number, for version 4.0, is Uxxxxxxxxxxx (that's U, followed by eleven numbers) I did try "coming clean", that is, removing both versions (4.1A and 5.0) including preferences and extensions, and reinstalling 5.0 once again. (I had tried that earlier, but not a "clean" install.) No go. Now, that reinstall (of 5.0) is the only version of RE still on my computer. So, I'm completely naked. That is, I can't make a backup at all. Please help! Thanks.
AmyJ
Make sure that the screen you are seeing says Retrospect Express, and not Retrospect. I have seen these issues occur when the wrong updater is applied. If your screen does not specifically say Retrospect Express, please contact Customer Service for information on obtaining the correct updater file or refer to your upgrade documentation. 800.225.4880
Gregg
Yes, it says Retrospect Express. So, call that number anyway? Do I have to be at the computer when I call? This is very frustrating!
Gregg
Well I called customer service and was given a new registration number. It worked. I think it's pretty amazing that the mere act of typing in a valid number changes the "OK" button from grey to normal.
