steffi
What is Dantz's position on my error -43 problem with Retrospect complaining about some of these filesnames that contain Asian character sets? Is it a Apple problem (to be resolved, hopefully by Jaguar 10.2) or are you using the api's incorrectly and acknowledge that these needs addressing? rang
Yes ... it would be nice to at least get an acknowledgement that this is a known problem and some sort of timeframe for a fix (or even "we're working on it but not sure how long it will take"). On my system this affects a variety of files with Vietnamese characters as well as a few "hidden" files holding license keys etc. from Mac OS 8.x days. lv2ski
When copying high-bit characters Retrospect Reports error -43. The finder can copy these files okay under Mac OS X. We know about this and we are working on a work around.
AmyJ
This is a known problem, and has been documented in our Knowledgebase. We hope to have this resolved with the release of Jaguar and the next Retrospect build, which will support Jaguar. We do not have an estimated release date at this time. Maser
does this mean the current Retrospect version will *not* support Jaguar? And, if that's the case, does it mean that: 1) The 5.0.205 application will not *run* on a Jaguar machine (meaning do not upgrade the backup servers on Aug 24)? or 2) 5.0.205 can still run under 10.1.5, but that it can *not* back up Jaguar clients? (Meaning do not upgrade any clients on Aug 24?) or 3) both? thanks!
lv2ski
The current version will not support Jaguar. 1) right. 2) We cannot answer that as of now.
Konrad
We tested to backup a Jaguar-Client. (Retrospect-Server on MacOS 9.1) It is working, no errors. But I can't promise if it will be trouble-free. We are still checking. Recover is not tested , but we will! Konrad
rang
OK, it's been about a year and a half ... will Retrospect 6.0 finally allow files with full Unicode names to be backed up?
raffael
There is also no support for Polish characters in files' names in Retrospect 5.1.175.
