scooper1
Having filled the first CD-R of a backup set, I'm asked to insert a new disc which will become 2-Backup. When I do this, the Retrospect progress display says "Loading" and then "Erased". Clicking the Proceed button gives me a message stating that the new CD-R can't be used because it is too different from the other members of the set. Fact is, the new CD-R is of exactly the same brand (TDK Gold) and size (80min) as the first one. I've tried other blanks from the same batch and a 74min one as well -- same result. What to do now? Drive is an internal TEAC CD-W540E which works perfectly with Disc Burner, iTunes and Toast Ti. I'm using Retrospect Express 5.0.236, released today, under Mac OS X 10.2.1. Steve. Mayoff
The following Knowledgebase records may be helpful. http://www.dantz.com/index.php3?SCREEN=kbase&ACTION=KBASE&id=26513 http://www.dantz.com/index.php3?SCREEN=kbase&ACTION=KBASE&id=27666
scooper1
Thanks Robin. I appreciate this was probably an automated reply, but the referenced Knowledge Base articles are NOT relevant to my question, since they deal with tape and DVD backup problems. I am using blank CD-R media and Retrospect claims that two discs from the same retail pack are "too different". Steve.
Mayoff
Allthough the KB records are for tape, the cause of the error is identical. Backup Set format corruption. Please review the KB records for details
AmyJ
This drive is not yet supported for use with Retrospect on the Macintosh. For a list of currently qualified devices, please see: Hardware Search Enginecolor=blue> Dantz goes through a rigorous qualification process with every drive we test. This means that not every drive will be qualified and we can never guarantee that a particular device will be supported. Some drives do not get qualified ever, and some take 6 months to a year to get support. We have no way of telling if this drive will be supported or not at this moment. We add device support often though, so do check back with our Hardware Compatibility list.
