Hard drives are mounted / unmounted by the Operating System, and Retrospect will never send a command to unmount your local hard drive. That your drive is unmounting could indicate a communication issue or a conflict in the system.

1) Make sure you are using a File backup set - not a removable disk backup set. You can determine what kind of backup set you are using by going to Configure > Backup Sets. Configure your set to see the type in the top left corner of the box.

2) Try an immediate backup with base extensions (plus any extensions that may be required to access your hard drive).

3) Is the drive plugged directly into the computer? If not, take it off the hub and make a direct connection to the computer. Try a different cable.

4) Try the backup on a different backup computer.
