krstone
Under the Configure tab, then the Storage Devices and Media option, I then choose Erase. I get a 206 error message. Does this erase function work if the disc was previously burned with another program such as Toast? Thanks.
AmyJ
Which device are you using? While in Retrospect, go to Configure > Devices > Device Status and list Vendor, Product and Version.

AmyJ
Which version of Retrospect are you using? This drive requires Retrospect 4.2 with RDU 1.9 _or_ Retrospect 4.3 and higher (no RDU required). Try using name brand media, if you are not already, such as TDK, Sony or Verbatim. Does the problem happen on CD's that were not previously used with Toast? Is the drive on a SCSI chain (daisy chain) with other items, or is it isolated (the only device on the chain)? Isolate the drive, if not already isolated. Try booting with base extensions to rule out extension conflicts. If possible, try the drive on another computer to see if the problem follows the drive. krstone
...snip......snip...Try using name brand media, if you are not already, such as TDK, Sony or Verbatim. Does the problem happen on CD's that were not previously used with Toast? ...snip......snip... I am using Memorex CD-RW. Are these OK? Also, there is never a problem with CD's that are fresh out of the case. Only when a CD requires a full erasure, the process never completes and ends with an error 206 message. However, I can use these same CD's with Toast so it does not seem to be a bad disc problem. Also, other than this problem with erasing, the recorder and Retrospect both work fine. I will try the other options in your list when I have time (one can spend one's life working out software/hardware problems!) Thanks for you help.
