vandehey
Hi, if I have forgotten the password on a client machine, how can I reset that password? Is there a certain file I need to delete and reinstall, or do I need to trash everything retrospect before I reinstall the client? I have both OS9 and 10 clients, so the location/name would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

In OS X, the password lives in the file: /var/root/Library/Preferences/retroclient.state Open the OS X Client application, and click the "off" radio button while holding down the Command (Apple) key. Then trash the file. It's owned by root, so you'll need to either use the terminal, or some GUI program that lets you manipulate root files (Snax comes to mind). Then turn the client back on, at which point it will prompt you for a new password. Or, use the installer to uninstall and then reinstall (although that may hose your scripts, if you've renamed the clients from Retrosepct...). The password for the Classic (OS 9) control panel lives in the control panel itself; you'll have to trash it and copy over a fresh one (then restart). rhostettler
How can i reset the Password in Retrospect SERVER 5?
AmyJ
Retrospect 5.0 under OS X does not use an application password. OS X authentication is used to protect the program. This password is set in your OS X user profile. Once you change your password through the OS, your authentication password will change.
