zeph
Greets - I want -- at least temporarily -- to run Retrospect right off our OS X Server 10.1.4 to a DAT. At the moment I'm only interested in backing up the server data. Can I use the workgroup version, or do I need to use the server version? Will I run into any problems running the software on the OS X Server, rather than backing up the server as a client? Thanks, z
CallMeDave
>>Can I use the workgroup version...? Yes. Workgroup backs up a single, local server. >>Will I run into any problems running the software on the OS X Server, rather than backing up the server as a client? Depends on how happy your operating system is with your hardware. OS X 10.1.x does not have very good SCSI support; you might find that the DAT that worked fine under OS 9 does not work at all under OS X. The Retrospect application will run fine under OS X Server. Jaguar (OS X 10.2) is rumored to have improved SCSI support. Dave
