danhvos
This computer originally had Windows Media Center Edition (a form of Windows XP). After it's release, I installed Vista into another partition. Since that install, I backed away from Vista and am back to using Windows XP. As part of adding Vista, the XP partition also goes through some changes. Most notably is the change to C:\Documents and Settings. The former folder, C:\Documents and Settings, is renamed C:\Users. Vista provides a Junction for maintaining compatibility with old programs. Most programs are unaffected by this change since the operating system finds files with the old folder mapping in the new location. Retrospect has a problem with this in only one area that I can find...creaton of the System State. When it creates the System State, the following erros appear in the log: MapError: unknown Windows error -1,020 xpmlStoreMetadata: couldn't copy file "\\?\GLOBALROOT\Device\HarddiskVolumeShadowCopy1\Documents and Settings\LocalService\NTUser.Dat" to the state folder "C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\Retrospect\RtrExec.dir\Exec\State\MetaInfo\writer0001\comp0001\file0002", winerr -1020, error -1001 MapError: unknown Windows error -1,020 xpmlStoreMetadata: couldn't copy file "\\?\GLOBALROOT\Device\HarddiskVolumeShadowCopy1\Documents and Settings\LocalService\Local Settings\Application Data\Microsoft\Windows\UsrClass.Dat" to the state folder "C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\Retrospect\RtrExec.dir\Exec\State\MetaInfo\writer0001\comp0001\file0003", winerr -1020, error -1001 MapError: unknown Windows error -1,020 xpmlStoreMetadata: couldn't copy file "\\?\GLOBALROOT\Device\HarddiskVolumeShadowCopy1\Documents and Settings\NetworkService\NTUser.Dat" to the state folder "C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\Retrospect\RtrExec.dir\Exec\State\MetaInfo\writer0001\comp0001\file0004", winerr -1020, error -1001 MapError: unknown Windows error -1,020 xpmlStoreMetadata: couldn't copy file "\\?\GLOBALROOT\Device\HarddiskVolumeShadowCopy1\Documents and Settings\NetworkService\Local Settings\Application Data\Microsoft\Windows\UsrClass.Dat" to the state folder "C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\Retrospect\RtrExec.dir\Exec\State\MetaInfo\writer0001\comp0001\file0005", winerr -1020, error -1001 MapError: unknown Windows error -1,020 xpmlStoreMetadata: couldn't copy file "\\?\GLOBALROOT\Device\HarddiskVolumeShadowCopy1\Documents and Settings\DANHA\NTUser.Dat" to the state folder "C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\Retrospect\RtrExec.dir\Exec\State\MetaInfo\writer0001\comp0001\file0006", winerr -1020, error -1001 MapError: unknown Windows error -1,020 xpmlStoreMetadata: couldn't copy file "\\?\GLOBALROOT\Device\HarddiskVolumeShadowCopy1\Documents and Settings\DANHA\Local Settings\Application Data\Microsoft\Windows\UsrClass.Dat" to the state folder "C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\Retrospect\RtrExec.dir\Exec\State\MetaInfo\writer0001\comp0001\file0007", winerr -1020, error -1001 It appears to me that there needs to be a fix to Retrospect to follow the Junction properly when building the System State. Please, can anybody help me? I definitely need to backup my registry settings! This has been tested with the latest 7.5 version of Retrospect. Thanks!
