plochner
Hi there, I have 7.0.344 server and I'm trying to finish up a 640GB tape backup. The job is on tape #3, and has been hung for the past few hours. It shows 226.1GB remaining, yet the time increments have stopped moving as have the elasped time counter. If I allow other scheduled executions to start, that other job starts without a problem. It's just that this current 640GB backup job is stalled for reasons completely unknown. Nothing in the log files, no other output of information regarding the problem anywhere. I have tried to Pause the job and then Continue it, hoping that'll "wake it up", with no luck. On my Dell Powervault 110, the LED shows no activity. I have just Ejected the tape, thinking Retrospect will *now* yell at me, saying "Please insert this tape..". Instead, the Status / Storage Device tab still shows it "writing" to the tape, even though it's not even in the drive! Retrospect also loves to crash with assertion failure messages, usually on a Friday night after our Recycle job runs. This fact, combined with the current problem above (which I figure will probably recur), does not provide me with much confidence that my backup system is working. I'm hoping someone on the forums has some ideas regarding this problem, because we're about ready to dump this Retrospect system because it's so unreliable. plochner
Another fun fact: trying to exit Retrospect so I can restart it and possibly see if the job starts back up on its own has put it in an "Exiting......" mode for the past 30 minutes. Awesome stuff.
Lennart_T
You should disable both the "Tape Drive" and "Medium Changer" in the Windows Device Manager. Have you?
