bilbus
When i rename a windows computer it seems like retrospect keeps the old name in the configure clients section. Anyone know a fix for this?
gvanden
The Retrospect Client takes the computer name only when you first install it. If you rename the computer, you need to rename the Client from the Retrospect Server under Configure -> Clients.
bilbus
Anone else think thats a little weak? Every other backup software checks the name each time the service starts, and updates a change.

No. Quote: Every other backup software checks the name each time the service starts, and updates a change. I hate it when things changes behind my back. I want to know what happens and why. BudDurland
Quote: Anone else think thats a little weak? Not really. It seems that the Retrospect client is *reactive* to the server. it doesn't contact the server and say "here I am!". Rather, the server is configured to go look for a client named "Fred". If the client "Fred" is renamed to "Barney", the server can search all it wants, but it's still looking for "Fred", until someone reconfigures it.
