Jimbo1946
I'm new here, so please forgive me if this question has been asked. A few months ago I got a new external WD MyBook drive with the Retrospect 7.5 software. I backed up my data. A couple of days ago, my internal boot disk crashed and burned. I installed a new internal hard disk and got the OS running. Now I'm trying to restore the data to the internal hard disk. I've tried to wade through the 390-page manual, and it appears that the software (which I just reinstalled on the new internal disk) wants to find a catalog or something on the hard disk, which it can't because the old disk is gone. The manual indicates that it is possible to recreate the catalog or whatever from the backup set on the MyBook, but I haven't figured out how to do this. I'm desperate. Can anyone help me? AmyJ
Go to Tools > Repair Recreate catalog from Disk When prompted choose the WD drive Select the backup set Choose a location to save the catalog Off you go!
Jimbo1946
Amy, it worked like a charm. It took two hours to recreate the catalog file, then six hours to restore, but I have my files back. Thanks! If you're ever in Atlanta, I owe you a steak and a drink!
