adams
I was trying to, but cant do a full backup, not to mention the hassle of setting up 10 backup jobs for the 10 tapes in the 2 week rotation I have. The web site says that the software is a sort of incremental backup and you can do a full restore from tape because the software can scan all the backup sets on the tape. but what if since the software is so good at saving space on the tape that the tape is good for months then the begining of the tape goes bad. Now I cant do a restore, and if I was doing a full backup and verify each night, I would know the tape was going bad. Plus I cant overwrite the tapes without scheduling 10 overwrite jobs to run. Sounds to me that Backup exec is looking better and better.
lv2ski
I do not understand. Do you get an error? Why can't you restore?
adams
If the beginging of the tape is bad, the part where the software did do a full backup is not readable, all I have left is the changes in the middle of the tape.
