Immediate Backup faulty media

Recommended Posts

It depends on your Source.

- Is your "audio project" composed of many files? Or just one large one?

If you mark the problem Member as Missing (Configure->Backup Sets) and run the Backup again, Retrospect will re-copy the files that had been previously copied to a new disc (call it #5). Files that were broken (spaned) will be backed up again in their enteriety. So if your 4 disc set was for one super huge file, you'll end up needing 4 disks again anyway. But if it's a lot of smaller files, you may not need any more disks then #5 (depending on how full disc #4 it was the first time through).

I've also seen that files which fail verification seem to be re-copied on the next backup, which would make sense. You can use the "missing member" trick if you don't trust the media once it fails to verify, which is also reasonable.
