httyuwma Posted February 26, 2007 Report Posted February 26, 2007 We purchased and am in the process of installing Retrospect 7.5. How many clients should I expect will be able to back up to one Retrospect 7.5 Mutli Server machine. We are installing on a Dell PE2950,4MB/2.33GHZ.
natekruser Posted February 27, 2007 Report Posted February 27, 2007 I was running 50 client workstations and a webserver on a Windows XP workstation with 3GHz processor and 1GB of RAM. Often the CPU would run at 100% utilization, but it was stable for 6+ months. I have recently moved to a PE1900 with a 2.0 GHz quad core processor, and it rarely peaks above 30% (combined) CPU utilization, and is often idle. With 4 GB of RAM, the paging file has remained almost untouched. My guess is that your system should be able to easily handle 100+ clients. Network speeds may be your biggest issue. I have noticed that Retrospect made use of the two NICs I had on the network before I teamed them, so that may be worth looking into.
httyuwma Posted February 28, 2007 Author Report Posted February 28, 2007 Thanks for your reply! Does Retrospect have an response for this?
