Update from 6.5.342 to 7.5.X

Is it possible to upgrade from 6.5.342 to 7.5.x without additional cost?

I ask because I tried it two ways and neither worked. First I tried downloading the ru759102.exe file. That installed without complaint and RE ran, but seemed to do no upgrade or update to RE because the Help->About still showed 6.5.342. Then I tried installing Express-EN_7_5_370.exe file. That installed OK, but on running generated some critical errors to a log file, and then wouldn't accept the old 6.5 license number.

I got 6.5 from an AcomData harddrive. The Retrospect web page implies (to me anyway) that an update to 7.5 is possible without additional cost, but if so it's a mystery how to carry it out.

Well, the website has a row for upgrading from Express 6.5 to Professional 7.5:

Express, Desktop or Professional 5.5, 5.6, 6.0, 6.5, 7.0 Professional $59.00 Upgrade

But I want to go from Express 6.5 to Express 7.5. That seems to me an update:

Which is where the 19MB Express-EN_7_5_370.exe file is, but that didn't work.

At my company, we publish no-cost software updates to move from one minor release to the next, i.e., 10.2 to 10.3. Upgrades move the user from one major release level to the next, i.e., 10.x to 11.x. These are never free. I'd be very surprised if the EMC/Insignia methodology was any different.
