solisMaris
I am using Retrospect Backup 6.1.126 on MacOS 10.4.8. I have been using it successfully with one client and ran into the problem in Subject line when I tried to add a second client. Here's what I've done so far: Verified that both clients have the latest client software (Actually removed and reinstalled 6.1.130 on both clients). Verified that both clients have different names and different IP addresses (yes). Forget all clients so that Backup Client Database window is empty. Press Network to initiate a search for clients. One client shows up (ibookDC, which is, interestingly, the new client (not the one I've been using successfully the past year. Wonder why the old client didn't show up?). Selected the client ibookDC, and logged in. It is now shown as "Responding." Use Add By Name to find the other client: I entered the name "powerbookNET05". This was found, but caused the dialog "Activator Code Conflict Found." The Log window shows the message: Activator code *-****-****-****-** is used for multiple clients: iBookDC at 192.168.*.** powerbookNET05 at 192.168.*.** (I encrypted the activator code and IP addresses for the forum; call me paranoid. But the IP addresses were different, and correct.) At this point I am apparently stuck. There were 3 other postings in the forum about this, but none of them helped my situation, since the recommended solution, forget the clients and re-add them, didn't help. CallMeDave
Quote: I am using Retrospect Backup 6.1.126... Actually, "Backup" is not one of the product levels of Retrospect. The product line is Express, Desktop, Workgroup and Server. - Which of these are you using? - What do you see in your License Manager window? > removed and reinstalled 6.1.130 on both clients - Does this mean you ran the Uninstall script from the client installer software, restarted, then ran the installer again? > Wonder why the old client didn't show up? - Are both client machines on the same subnet? - Is there anything different about the networking of the two client machines? > There were 3 other postings in the forum about this, but none of them helped my situation...
