rhm
Running Retrospect Backup 5.0.201 on PowerBook G4 with internal Matshita CD-RW CW-7122 drive (original equipment from Apple). Back-up works fine through the first CD-R (Verbatim DataLife Plus). When Retrospect calls for next disk, rejects all CD-Rs (many tried, different brands) as locked. Same CD-Rs work fine using Apple supplied CD burner. What gives?
IrenaS
You need to be sure that no other programs have formatted the CD that you are using. Are these brand new CDs? If so, can you provide details on the drive that you are using? Device (from Retrospect's Configure > Devices > Device Status window) Device firmware (in the version column of the Device Status window) Device interface Media brand and size
rhm
Replying to IrenaS, I include the requested information below. Thanks. You need to be sure that no other programs have formatted the CD that you are using. Are these brand new CDs? YES If so, can you provide details on the drive that you are using? YES Device (from Retrospect's Configure > Devices > Device Status window): ID: ATAPI-A, Vendor: Matshita, Product: CD-RW CW-7122 Device firmware (in the version column of the Device Status window): Version: 0A86, Driver: Panasonic CD-RW(5.01) Device interface: serial (built into PowerBook) Media brand and size: Verbatim DataLifePlus CD-R 80 min, 700MB. Note again that the first CD-R records fine; when asked for a second CD to continue the backup set, it is rejected as being locked even though it is the exact same brand, etc. and has never seen the inside of a CD writer or reader before. Many new, unused CDs were tried.
IrenaS
Please try another high-quality brand of media and let me knwo how this works. Thanks!
rhm
Delayed reply to IrenaS. Have tried TDK Data CD-R 80 min, 700 mb media with same result. Then started whole process over again creating new Retrospect dataset and again first disk burned, it called for a new disk, second one was deemed to be locked exactly as with Vertatim CD-R media.
