files not being recognized as duplicated

I'm new to Retrospect, so running latest 7.5. WinXP Pro.

I've duplicated two volumes. In checking with Windows Explorer, all files appear to be on the destination volume (same number of files and GB consumed). However, when I go to perform another Immediate Duplicate and hit Files Chosen, the comparison that is done of Source and Destination indicates in both cases that there are 4-5% of files missing. The indicated "missing" files are sometimes in blocks, sometimes solitary items in a subfolder. I have continued with another Duplicate after re-booting, but the same files are still showing as in need of duplication after a repeat of the search done by Files Chosen. When I want to perform an update Duplicate using Replace If Newer, I don't want to waste time re-duplicating many GB of files that are really there on the destination. Why is this happening, and how do I get Retrospect to recognize what it has already duplicated?

thanks
