i-dawg
I just purchased Retrospect Desktop Edition V6.1.126 running on my Intel Core Duo iMac I have two DVD writers...one internal and one external connected via Firewire. After installation, I added the Driver Update 6.1.9.102 to support the internal Pioneer drive. All seems to work fine with that. When I tried to do a custom configuration for my Sony DVD RW DRU-830A connected via Firewire, i insert a DVD-R media and the progress screen simply is trying to determine the write method. The drive light does not flash. The activity manager for Mac OS shows Retropect is not responding. Here is the log... ∆ $[31]Retrospect$[32] version 6.1.126 launched at 1/7/2007 1:56 PM + Retrospect Driver Update, version 6.1.9.102 Running Custom Configuration tests on $[31]SONY DVD RW DRU-830A$[32] at 1/7/2007 1:56 PM 1/7/2007 1:56:44 PM: Setup test: Successful 1/7/2007 1:56:44 PM: Default setup test: Successful 1/7/2007 1:56:44 PM: Drive type test: Successful 1/7/2007 1:56:44 PM: Drive initialization test: Successful 1/7/2007 1:56:44 PM: Disc information test: Successful Testing DVD-R media type 1/7/2007 1:56:44 PM: Write method 1 tests start 1/7/2007 1:58:27 PM: Write method 1 tests final result: Failed DVD-R media type is not ready to be used with the drive - 1/7/2007 1:59:23 PM: Custom Configuration tests: Failed Quit at 1/7/2007 1:59 PM I have tried many different types of DVD media and CD media.
