OSX Server and resource forks lost

Recommended Posts

I'm running OSX 10.3.9 Server and Retrospect 6.1.126 to an Exabyte VXA-2 FireWire autoloader. I'm archiving jobs off an XRaid (1.7TB) that is formatted as HFS+ Journaled. I will then restore files to the RAID occaisionally. I've been having a problem with the resource forks being stripped out. I could understand this if I was restoring to a non-HFS volume or a Windows platform not running Services for Macintosh. But this is all Mac OS and Mac HFS volumes, so why am I losing the resource forks. Particularly a problem in prepress with Mac fonts where the data is actually stored in the resource fork.

OK, can you describe for us the problem you're having?

Some relevent points:

- "Archive" is a specific term in Retrospect. Can you confirm that you are Executing backups to a Tape Backup Set?

- There are multiple options for Restore in Retrospect; can you provide the steps you are taking when you Restore?
