Sharing violation

I just obtained a Dell Latitude laptop and was using Retrospect to back up the data to a firewire hard drive. The system is running Windows 2000, SP2. I'm using Express ver. 5.6.132. Everything seemed to back up just fine with one exception. Retrospect indicated that it could not copy a file named Perflib_perfdata_280.dat. This file is located in the WINNT\System32 directory. Specifically, it returned error 1020 (sharing violation). All other files copied just fine.

I understand that this error means that the file was open and in use by some program or the operating system. I did not have any applications opened at the time.

I have no idea what this file does and whether the failure to back it up may cause problems in the event that a restore is necessary.

Thanks,
