gbrown
What does that error mean? It seems after upgrading Mcaffe antiviral software to v7.1 on NT4sp6 server, retrospect crashes (is it just a coincidence?) when it does an un-attended launch. It will work fine if I log into an admin account and manually do the backup--version 5.6 workgroup Any ideas? Oh, the phone number in the assert log is disconnected. AmyJ
I took a look at the McAfee site, and Windows NT is not listed as a supported OS. The System Requirements listed are: Microsoft® Windows® XP, 2000 Pro, Windows® Me, or 98 Try disabling/uninstalling McAfee Virus temporarily and see if the problem goes away. gbrown
Check out this url: http://www.nai.com/us/products/mcafee/antivirus/desktop/vs.htm When I looked it said nt4 sp6 or greater. What url did see? The problem seems to be McAfee/Retrospect related, as if I disable McAfee, Retrospect 5.6 run ok (at least once it did). Retrospect seems to be the only product affected, and it seems to be the AUTO launch of it which crashes the system. Do you have any ideas? Would a different version of retrospect, i.e. 6 or 6.5 work? or is the launch code the same and thus with McAfee on crash the system? Mayoff
Retrospect 5.6 is a very old version and we have fixed a lot of bugs since that time. It is possible this issue will go away with an upgrade. You can run a 6.5 trial and see what happens.
