Superdrive & Eject

Recommended Posts

I have a flat-panel iMac running OS X. I backup to a DVD-RW disc. I am unable to do subsequent normal (incremental) backups. Retrospect asks for the media and I put the DVD in the tray. But the iMac has no hardware switch to retract the tray and Retrospect seems to block Apple's eject button on the keyboard.

So every time must be a full backup???

To close the CD tray, you can give the tray door a gentle tap (or nudge) inwards. This will signal the drive to close the door the rest of the way. This is totally safe and will not hurt the drive.
