Shawnwirt
I have put the Mac Client on and I have Retrospect workgroup on windows 2000 server. For some reason I can not see the client. This means I can not back it up? The version of the os is 9.2. Does anyone have any ideas? Thank you!!!
AmyJ
While in Retrospect, go to Configure > Clients > ADd > Test and type in the IP Address - what response do you get? Is the client in a different subnet? The Workgroup Edition will not see clients outside of it's own local subnet. How about a Firewall? Make sure all Firewalls (hardware and software) are wide open to traffic on Port 497.
Shawnwirt
We are usuing DHCP for our internet. Is this going to cause a problem? If so what is the best way to solve it? Shawn
AmyJ
Yes - Retropsect won't resolve DHCP clients if you use Add by Address - once the address changes, Retrospect won't find the client. However, adding by address as a test can help provide more clues as to what the problem is.
Shawnwirt
ok I changed everthing over to a static ip address. Everything is in the right subnet. I still can not see it. I can ping it from the server though. Are there any more ideas. I have reinstalled the client. I am running out of ideas. Shawn
AmyJ
While in Retrospect, go to Configure > Clients > Add > Test and type in the IP Address - what response do you get? How about a Firewall? Make sure all Firewalls (hardware and software) are wide open to traffic on Port 497. If Retrospect can see a client with the Test command, but can't see it in the Multicast Windows, there are a few possibilities: 1. The machines are in different subnet 2. A Firewall is blocking access 3. UDP packet access is getting blocked by a piece of software or hardware 4. Corrupt settings or faulty network hardware Try a direct cross-over cable between the client and the server - if it shows up, the problem is coming from the existing network.
