BarbaraA
I have a Sony CD-RW drive which included in a bundle Sony Retrospect 5.14. I thought it would be easier to backup my hard drive using rewriteable CDs instead of using a Zip drive which I have used for years. My goal is to backup my entire C drive and keep it updated. I am using Windows XP. Will there be any problem using this version with XP? It doesn't appear that there are any updated drivers for this version. I am not sure how to backup my hard drive using this software. Is there a tutorial or do I just place a rewritable CD in the drive and follow the instructions. How do I keep my files updated if they span several CD disks? Thanks.
AmyJ
Retrospect 5.14 is not actually WinXP compatible. The earliest version that was compatible with WinXP was 5.6, and our currently shipping version is Retrospect 6.0. When running a supported version, the Easy Script wizard (Automate > Easy Script) will ask you a series of questions, which will help you set up an automated backup. BarbaraA
Does that mean I can update 5.14 or does it mean I have to purchase a new copy of 6.0? I have only had this program for about a year. Thanks. Has anybody tried using 5.14 with XP?
AmyJ
There is an upgrade path for current users of the program. Please see: http://www.dantz.com/upgrades for complete details and pricing.
