Client/Server Question

Recommended Posts

In the Good Old Days, we used to use Retrospect Remote to backup Apple Macs, the server used to pole each mac on the network, and when it was switched on a backup would take place.

I am currently evaluating a copy of Retrospect Backup Server and for the life of me I can,t get it to wait until a networked pc is switch and then start a backup, I can run a scheduled backup but this seems to rely on the pc being switched on at the time the script is run.

Is it still possible to get Retrospect backup to wait until the workstation is swithced on?

If so what am I doing wrong?

Scheduling is fine but no good to me as I never know when the workstations will be on?

It's called Backup Server script. It will go out and poll the network and find clients that need to be backed up, and prioritize them to back them up. It is found under scripts. If the client is off, it will wait and retry them again later.
