Cyrillic filenames backup error: Mac cannot duplicate from XP

Recommended Posts

Problem: Retrospect 6.1 Desktop on Mac does not recognise Cyrillic filenames from Windows XP disk.

Using Retrospect 6.1.126 Desktop on Mac OS X 10.3.9 I am Duplicating the contents of a Windows XP based folderset with Cyrillic filenames. Retrospect is configured to use the Retrospect client on the Windows XP machine. The filenames are correctly displayed in Windows. Also from the Mac when mounting the Windows XP disk the filenames show perfectly correct.

However the Retrospect Duplicate job fails to recognise the Cyrillic names as correct file names: "Can't read file "01 ?????? ?????.mp3", error -37 (invalid name), path: "audio\mp3store\world etc\?????? ????\?? ??????, ?? ???????\01 ?????? ?????.mp3"."

Any help on this problem is much appreciated
