Robster
Hi I want to re-use some of my 25/50 170M tapes. However while they load fine in both my tape drives neither drive will enable the 'erase' button? They are not write protected. Any ideas please? Cheers. waltr
hi rob, do these tapes belong to a backup set? try forgetting the backup set from within Retrospect and see if you can't erase then. configure->backup sets, highlight the backup set and hit the delet key. Robster
I don't know. How would I find out which (if any) backup sets they belong too? Robin
waltr
hi rob, when you put them in the tape drive they will show up like, '1-Backup Set A', '2-Backup Set A', etc., under 'configure->devices' in the tape drive. in that case they would belong to 'Backup Set A'. so you'd want to forget that Backup Set and see if you could erase them. edited to add: were these tapes used w/ Retrospect before? i suddenly realized that this is not clear. Robster
Hmmmm Well I checked and none of the tapes I was trying to erase were part of a 'remembered' backup set. I did check my Retrospect folder and the tapes were actually in the folder, so I deleted them. I STILL cannot erase the damn things. Only thing I can think of is trying the tapes drives on another machine with Retrospect and trying to erase them there. Unless anyone has any other ideas? Robster
Okay, this is spooky. I moved my two tape drives onto my Powerbook and loaded 4 different 25/50 tapes. NONE of them will erase. Does anyone have any ideas please? Robin
Robster
As an experiment I rebuilt a backup set from one of the tapes just so I could properly 'forget' it. I STILL cannot get either tape drive to allow me to erase these tapes. Surely there is something wrong here somewhere? Robin
