spam33
Hey Everyone, I'm backing up some data from a firewire drive. I'm on a G4, with OSX 10.4.2. I've got Retrospect 6.1.2.102 and I'm using DLT IV's on a Quantum DLT1. Backup works fine until I get to about the 40 gig mark, where it should pop-up the "insert new tape" window. For some reason though, it just freezes. The tape stops running, and if I click on the stop button, it says, "Canceling execution", and then I have to force quit. Since I have to force quit, my backup set is corrupt and it says I have to do a repair on it in order to get it working. I try the repair but at some point towards the end, I get the mac version of the "Blue Screen of Death". Anyone have similar problems and/or know of a way to fix this? Thanks, Cameron... waltr
hi spam, is the quantum drive on firewire also, or is it scsi? if it's scsi, what scsi card are you using.
spam33
I never responded to this this. Sorry. The Quantum drive is on SCSI, and I am using an adaptec 2930CU for Mac.
waltr
hi spam, bad news. your adaptec card is unsupported in anything over 10.2: http://kb.dantz.com/al/12/1/5642.html Quote: IMPORTANT NOTE: Dantz does not support any Adaptec SCSI adapters for use in any Macintosh computers running Mac OS X 10.3 or 10.4. Adaptec is no longer developing SCSI drivers for the Mac OS. you'll find similar posts on this forum if you search. i would buy an atto card: http://www.attotech.com which i've found very reliable.
