Christiaan
In Retrospect 6 (Mac) there is the ability to combine your catalog and data files into one file. Why might it be advantageous to do this? And why might it be a disadvantage?
CallMeDave
Actually, what was new in Retrospect 5.x (and continued in 6.x) is the ability to seperate a File Backup Set into individual catalog and data files. Before that, File Backup Sets (and before, that, File Storage Sets) were always combined into a single file. But Mac OS (both 5/6/7/8/9 and X) limited how large such a single file could grow, and breaking the Retrospet information into two files gets around that file system limit. Most OS X users will probably have hundreds of thousands of files in their Backup Sets, and Retrospect will seperate any File Backup Set when necessary. I'd just leave this as it is.
