krajcd5
Everyone, I have a satellite office that has Retrospect workgroup installed. There is one user who is running 10.4.2 everyone else is running 10.3.x. Retropspect has been upgraded to 6.1. The system runs fine for all of the clients who are using 10.3.x but when it gets to the one 10.4.2 machine the backup crashes everytime. We removed the user from the backup script and it ran the entire office without a problem. We tried to do an immediate backup of the user and it crashed on that too. I had her unistall and reinstall the client software and that did not work. Just wondering if anyone out there is having this same problem Thanks in advance. waltr
Hi Daniel, here is a list of things to do to the client. i've done this before and fixed weird problems like this: 1) Download the Change_client_password AppleScript and take the .dmg file over to the 10.4.1 client. http://kb.dantz.com/article.asp?article=7968&p=2 2) Double click it to mount the image 3) Run the enclosed AppleScript to reset all of the Retrospect Client preferences, including the password 4) Reboot the 10.4. client machine. 5) Run Apples Disk Utility and do a Repair Permissions on the live system. Run this on any hard drives and/or partitions that are part of the machine. 6) Boot from Appleís OS X 10.4 install disk and run the Disk Utility again, this time run a Repair Disk. Run this on any hard drives and/or partitions that are part of the machine. 7) If the Disk Utility finds any errors that it cannot fix, you should run other more powerful disk utilities, such as Disk Warrior. 8) Boot the 10.4. computer again and go to the computer that runs the Retrospect Sever 9) Go to Configure->Clients and Forget this 10.4 client. 10) Now Add this 10.4 client. 11) Try to run the backup again. it's a scattershot approach, but there can be several causes for an issue like this.
