Moving Retrospect 5.0 catalogs to OSX

Recommended Posts

Can ANYONE please help!!

I was using retrospect 5 on OS 9.2. Nothing complex, just backing up files from hard drives on 1 computer onto AIT tape attached to the same computer.!

I've since upgrades to a G5 running OSX 10.3.9 and had to buy Retrospect 6.0. I have installed and all is working fine with new backups. But - i wont recognise any of my previous backups from the old computer. Ihave copied catalogs and preferences onto new computer. Initially it saw the previous backup sets as "unix executabele files". I then forced retrospect to see them as "Retrospect Documents" but cannot get it to see them as Backup Sets. I have about 5 years worth of files which i now cannot access. Any help would be much appreciated.

Thanks.

How did you perform the copying?

This is somewhat confusing, as "it" seems to refer to Retrospect, which doesn't make sense. I assume you mean that you examined the files in Finder and then, using Get Info, set the files to be opened with Retrospect.

If you go to Configure> Backup Sets> More...> Open... and navigate to the folder containing the files, can you see them? Are the file names in black or greyed out?

I copied by dragging and dropping from the preferences folder on old G4 onto a USB Key then droping into Preferences folder on new G5.

Yes the "it" refers to the pld backup sets iin the finder window. All the old ones are listed as "unix executable files" and any new backups i've done are "backup set catalogs"

And..when i go to confugure>backup sets>more>open......the old files are greyed out!

Dunno what else to try!
