Retrospect Locks up G5 Tower on copy to Ext USB 2 HDD

Recommended Posts

Hello All,

Just received a new External USB 2 and FireWire Hard Drive model ME-740 Series 3.5" Aluminiun External Closure.

On Starting Retrospect 6.0.212 with Driver update rdu66 6.6.101 installed.

When I start the copy from the G5 Hard Drive to the 250 GB ATA Drive in the External USB/FireWire Drive under USB 2.0, the Retrospect Application locks the computer, I can move the cursor but that is all.

Have to restart by holding down the Power Button, on first restart the machine sits at the spinning pizza wheel, hold the Power Button again to restart and the G5 restarts normally.

Computer is G5 Tower 1.8 MHz Sp with 3.5 GB of RAM running OS X 10.4.2 with all updates from Software Update.

Any clues on what is causing the problem?
