brunning
retrospect 6 on tiger backing up remote data to a firewire VXA 2 library and loader. during each backup, we get several -39 errors with the explanation "unexpected end of file" those files are then rendered unusable on the machine we're backing up. i've heard some folks say we should run disk utility on the machine we're backing up, which we'll do, but i'm wondering if anyone else has had files corrupted during the backup process and if the fact that we're not using the retrospect client may have anything to do with it - it's a network backup, but we're just mounting the remote drive over afp for the backup. thanks! Mayoff
The backup is detecting files that are already corrupted. Retrospect can not corrupt files on the source. These errors come directly from the Mac OS. I would suspect a disk problem if the errors get worse.
