Jeffc
I am using the latest version of Retrospect 6 for Mac OS X (10.4.2). I am backing up to a Lacie 250GB ext triple interface drive using Firewire 400. I get several errors. When I use Retrospect 7 on my Windows laptop, I get NO errors. What's up with Mac Tiger 10.4.2 and Retrospect? Thanks for your help; I appreciate it. Jeffc j.castaldo@verizon.net
Mayoff
can you be a little more specific? What are the errors?
kathywmn
I am also having problems. We have 2 Mac G5s running OS X 10.4.2. (Tiger). We upgraded to Tiger last week. We ran all the Retrospect upgrades, driver and client updates yesterday morning. We write to a SmartDisk Firewire 80 G external drive. Before the upgrades, everything was working great. After the upgrades and updates, we still get a backup script to run okay ... but we get 1 error "data offset at file #####". I've run it three times with the same single error, but it gives different file#s each time. I've been certain that the other computer is not being used during backup. I'd like to know: a) how much of a backup am I actually getting? what should I do to fix this? I am willing to erase the firewire and startover if need be ... if the problem is a corrupted file on the firewire ... but would rather not. Thanks. CallMeDave
Quote: we get 1 error "data offset at file #####". You use quote signs around the text above, yet Retrospect is generally more verbose then that. The data offset number is much less important then the actual path to the actual file, which might lead the investigator to the conclusion that the log entry is perfectly normal for the given situation. Since the readers here know little about the situation _or_ the error, answering "a" and "b" above is impossible. Dave
Jeffc
I will make a note of them, but I will tell you that I got over 40 errors on a duplicate backup.
kathywmn
There wasn't a path given. I was told by support, in order to avoid the per support call $70 charge, to try the forums where Dantz techs can give answers for free. So, I'm hoping a Dantz tech will read my e-mail and give me some answers. I never saw a 'data offset' error before upgrading to Tiger and subsequently running the Retrospect Desktop upgrade, driver update and the Client driver update. Therefore, I tend to assume it has to do with incompatability between my Smartdisk FireLite Drive and the new software for Tiger??
