Dave001
We are currently setting up Retrospect Workgroup Backup 5.6. The system will be used to backup a number of clients, both Mac and PC across a network. Our institution will be shorly be switching to a Dynamic IP environment. I just wanted to make sure that there will be no problem recognizing, clients with multiple platforms in this situation. Thanks Dave
Mayoff
Retrospect can handle DHCP clients in multiple subnets. You will need the server edition for the advanced networking that gives you subnet broadcast features.
Dave001
We only plan to backup within one subnet. Is server edition still necessiary? Can workgroup edition recognize clients with dynamic IPs if they are on the same subnet? Thanks Again
Mayoff
If all clients are in the same subnet, then desktop or workgroup should be fine. You can download a trial (windows) and see how it works for you.
