.rbc catalog file will not import or rebuild. 26 tapes not accessable - Help!

Recommended Posts

Hi Team,

I need some help.
Essentially I have a Retrospect Media Set (26 tapes) with no working catalog file.
I have the .rbc file but for some reason it will not rebuild when I import it into Retrospect. All the other media sets do import including on from the same era. (2007- 2008)

Here are some vital statistics as context.
Software - retrospect 18.5.3 (141)
Tape Drive - HP Ultrium Gen 5 DC
Computer - Apple iMac running Mac OS Catalina - 10.15.7

When I try and rebuild the catalog by putting in the tape it looks like it is going to do it but then just sits with the 'busy' message in the 'members' column.

I'd love some help getting this set of 26 tapes accessible again.
I have both an A and B set of tapes in perfect condition.

Thanks in advance,

Steve

Yes. Very frustrating. I tried the first tape and the last tape and now the 2nd tape. It looks like it's going to do it but then just stops. See attachment for the unhelpful notation at the bottom of the activity page. I have just done a test unarchive using one of the other catalogs and the tape drive performed fine.
