New Install of Retrospect - Keep existing data

pronto

Recommended Posts

Reinstalling Retrospect does not alter (nor remove) settings, scripts, catalog files, backup sets etc.

So you should have no problem with just launching Retrospect and it is ready to go.

Please see the chapter in the user guide about moving Retrospect to a new computer. It will come in handy in the unlikely event that something goes wrong with the install.

Hi Lennart,

Please see the chapter in the user guide about moving Retrospect to a new computer. It will come in handy in the unlikely event that something goes wrong with the install.

got it, thanks. For my particular problem the Retrospect support recommends to trash the config file but I prefer a regular fresh installation for that. The manual describes the procedure at least with keeping the catalog files and backups sets, very good this is the minimum requirement but it would be really great to keep the scripts also, otherwise I have to print each script to keep in line with the former schedule. There is no way to extract the scripts, I guess?

BTW: I can use the license keys which are displayed in the license manager again or do I have to request new keys?

Thx  & Bye Tom

Not sure if this will work in your case but if you put the config77.bak (configs.xml for Retrospect 10.x for Windows) in the appropriate folder* in the new installation before first launch then launch Retrospect the Scripts, Volumes, Clients and other settings will be recreated from this file.

* On Windows 7 and 10 this folder is C:\ProgramData\Retrospect
