Retrospect 11 and Quantum SuperLoader 3

Recommended Posts

Posting the solve to my own problem in case it helps someone else.

I have a Quantum SuperLoader 3 tape library with a single LTO-5 drive. Attached to the last model Xserve running 10.8.5 using an ATTO H680 SAS card. My issue was that the drive would show up in Retrospect, but the 16 library slots did not.

I had to make 2 settings changes to get this library to work. The first was making sure the Quantum was set to "Random" instead of "Sequential". The second was using the ATTO config utility to make sure that "NCQ" was set to enabled. Once I made those two changes, my library and drive both show up and I can control everything.

Hope that helps someone else.
