DonFoster
I am evaluating Retrospect server, it is working ok for backing up the Server 2008 to a Tandberg RDX Quikstation. We also need to backup data kept on a Buffalo Linkstation, wondering if this is even possible as I am not finding a way to do it. Is there a client for the Linkstation? Any way to do it without a client?
David W Lee
From Retrospect UI's left pane > Volumes > My Network... > Advanced, you can enter the UNC or HTTP path of the network folder or subfolder. Once added, it appears under My Network Places and can be selected as a backup source.
Richy_Boy
If the Buffalo NAS allows root access to it via SSH (via an add-on) you can install the Retrospect Linux client (7.6 I think) which will work. We backup a couple of Netgear ReadyNAS devices this way... although, Retrospect don't exactly keep the linux client up to date, so there's no modern features like Instant Scan or a GUI available.
