oslomike
Hello, I have an ATTO SAS card in my Mac pro that runs an LTO 5 drive. I want to add another PCI card to the backup machine (Dual channel Ultra Wide SCSI card-ATTO) to run my older exabyte mammoth archives, and I wondered if there were any issues that specifically affect Retrospect when it comes to PCI bus traffic and card slot order. Is it OK to have both cards installed? BTW, I am running the backup machine remotely so there is no video card in it. I VNC into the machine to control it. As of now the card slots look like this: 1. empty (this is where the video card would have been) 2. empty 3. empty 4. ATTO SAS card Any thoughts as to what the best order would be for the two cards to coexist? Any other thoughts? Thanks in advance! Mike PS. this is cross posted in the forum for Rretrospect 8. I hope that wasn't a no no.
Lennart_T
It depends on which Mac Pro you have and how much bandwidth you use. An Ultra Wide SCSI connection isn't fast by today's standards, so I think you should be OK. http://support.apple.com/kb/HT2838 PS. this is cross posted in the forum for Rretrospect 8. I hope that wasn't a no no. As in all forums: Cross posting is indeed a "no no".
